I don't think that having a well-written Story in a Sonic game (or a video game in general) automatically makes the game(s) inherently better or good. It's for that reason why I enjoyed Sonic Generations a lot more than, for example, Adventure 2; I felt as though the latter game (and many games released in the Dreamcast era) put way too much stock into their storytelling, as opposed to making the gameplay fun. I get a lot of flak for voicing my own grievances with SA2 because I'm not endlessly singing its praises and taking a multitude of jabs at the modern Sonic titles, instead of doing mostly the opposite.
